Clock Barn Godalming wedding photography | Maria and James
Maria and James’ special day started at Great Tangley Manor in my home village of Wonersh (just south of Guildford). We had arranged to do a special pre-wedding photo shoot in the morning with Maria’s cousins who had come over from Italy for the wedding.
They brought her a special gift of a medallion made in their native region of Abruzzo which Maria wore for the photo shoot in the garden – see images below.
The weather was glorious and showed off Great Tangley’s beautiful 16th century manor house. There has been a house on this site for over a thousand years – it’s even mentioned in Domesday Book as a royal hunting lodge.

We wandered around the gardens and I took some pictures of Maria and her cousins while we were waiting for James to arrive – he’d been over at the wedding venue helping to get everything ready. Later I found out that James’ timekeeping is legendary – it seems his BBC colleagues used to refer to him as “the late James Medlicott”!
I returned in the early afternoon for some getting ready shots, and then it was time to head over to Clock Barn Hall near Godalming for the wedding ceremony and reception. Working at Clock Barn Hall is always a pleasure as Isabel Mason and her team are always so friendly and helpful. I last worked there for Yveta and Adam’s wedding in July and it was good to be back.

Maria arrived for the ceremony in a very splendid open-top Morgan sports car – don’t ask me which exact model, I’m pretty ignorant about cars! Maybe the car buffs can work it out from the photos.
After the ceremony we did the all-important confetti photos and the family group photos on the lawn behind the barn.
After the wedding breakfast and speeches, there were video messages from absent friends, two songs, and some amazing Irish dancing by James’ great-niece Ella.
I should of course mention that the food by JMK Events was (as always) amazing!
Between courses I took the couple outside for some portraits as the sun was setting, having decided to postpone them from earlier to get nicer light and to give Maria and James time to chat to their guests.
And last but not least it was time for some dancing!
Here as always is my selection of some of the highlights of the day, and below is a link to their highlights slideshow on YouTube:
