Maria and James' special day started at Great Tangley Manor in my home village of Wonersh (just south of Guildford). We had arranged to do a special pre-wedding photo shoot in the morning with Maria's cousins who had come over from Italy for the wedding. I returned in the early afternoon for some getting ready shots, and then it was time to head over to Clock Barn Hall near Godalming for the wedding ceremony and reception.
A hot one! That's probably how best to describe Yveta and Adam's Clock Barn Hall wedding - temperatures reached almost 30C in the afternoon as the guests enjoyed the sunshine on the lawn at Clock Barn Hall near Godalming. I started the day with Yveta and her bridesmaids for bridal preparations at the Hog's Back Hotel Farnham...
Jane’s portrait session Godalming
Like many busy Mums, head teacher Jane is the photographer in her family – she loves photos and takes lots of her two kids, but as a result is never in the photos herself, which is a shame!
So I was very glad when she decided to remedy that, and called me to arrange a personal photo shoot just for herself. The great thing about this kind of session is that it can be done anywhere, indoors or out, and it’s usually quite uncomplicated and relaxed – at least that’s what I aim for!
My plan was to do the shoot at Jane’s home and then if we needed some extra time to go to the park – but as it turned out we found lots of places to shoot in Jane’s house and garden, so didn’t need to use the extra location. The whole session took about an hour. (more…)
I promised myself that next time I post about a portrait session I wouldn’t mention the weather, but it’s really hard not to, as it has such an effect on what we can do with the session… I’d been trying to find a time to shoot Jo and Al’s engagement session for a couple of weeks – either the timing didn’t work or it was pouring with rain, or so it seemed.
Anyway we finally fixed a time for last Saturday – and it was literally a case of looking at the weather forecast on the day to find an hour when it wasn’t going to be raining! Anyway we managed to find a gap and met in the Phillips Memorial Park in Godalming, down by the river Wey… (more…)
One of the things that’s fun about photographing weddings is that they come in all shapes and sizes – some are grand affairs with guests numbered in the hundreds, some are low-key, intimate family affairs, like Sharon and Mark’s wedding at Guildford Registry Office.
Everybody was relaxed and happy and the whole thing went off without a hitch – if you don’t count the occasional rain shower which has been such a feature of our summer this year!
After the ceremony we drove to Godalming and took some pictures down by the river Wey, before the wedding breakfast at “Bel & the Dragon”, in the old church on Bridge Street.
