A North Carolina family at West Bay Club

I met the Weathersbee family at West Bay Club last Saturday – not perhaps the best possible weather for a photo shoot – it was overcast and grey, with not much prospect of a sunset – but I know from experience that in those conditions there is always a trade-off – no bright sun means no hard shadows, no squinting, and soft and flattering light instead!

So no worries – Ella and Brooks (the two children) soon dictated the way the session was going to work – it was all about running around the resort and the beach and just having a good time!

Here’s a slideshow – and then some stills!

The fun thing with this family was how relaxed they were the whole time….

Here’s Ella in full flight – just a blur in motion, a child in her element, having fun on the beach. Perfect. This is the kind of image I look for when I shoot. Imagine her grand-daughter looking at this photograph in fifty years time…

And I hope that Ella herself, and her brother Brooks, will have this photograph of their parents to look at in years to come. Family pictures are so important!

When you just celebrated your first birthday there is nothing more important than digging and exploring…
