Weybridge wedding photography | Rylston Weybridge Register Office

Over the years I’ve photographed weddings with hundreds of guests. I’ve also photographed weddings where it’s been just the bride and groom, the minister, the wedding coordinator, and me – and I’ve signed the register as a witness. In between, there are nice intimate family weddings like Venita and Gareth’s at Weybridge Register Office last week.

Both Gareth and Venita’s parents were on hand as well as Gareth’s and Venita’s sisters. Gareth’s father acted as best man and both fathers signed the register as witnesses.

I arrived early so as to get some pictures of the location and also close-ups of the rings and the important moment of pinning on the boutonnières – which all went smoothly! Venita had to wait in the car for a bit while Gareth had his interview with the registrars – they kept to the old tradition of the bride and groom not seeing each other before the ceremony. Thankfully the car had air-con as it was one of the very hot days that we’ve had this summer – over 30C.

The Rylston Suite at Weybridge Register Office has big windows facing south-east which let in plenty of natural light, so there was no need for me to use flash, which I rarely do anyway thanks to the performance of modern cameras. The almost silent operation of my Fujifilm cameras also helped to make my coverage as unobtrusive as possible.

The Rylston Suite also has a window seat which was a perfect spot for me to get some unposed pictures of the couple while their dads were signing the paperwork!

Photos in the garden

After the ceremony we went outside into the gardens for the official group photos and also some shots of Venita and Gareth on their own. As it was early afternoon on such a hot day (and as you may notice from the photos Venita is expecting their first child later in the year) I tried to keep everybody in the shade as much as possible. We did the group photos on the steps near the house and then used some shaded areas of the gardens for the couple photos.

It was a great pleasure photographing Venita and Gareth’s wedding, and I wish them all the best for their future life together!
