Manor House Hotel wedding photography| Donna & Darren’s wedding
Many congratulations to Donna and Darren who tied the knot in a civil ceremony at one of my favourite local venues, the Manor House Hotel at Newlands Corner, Guildford.
Donna planned an outdoor ceremony, but on the morning of the wedding the clouds were looming, so it seemed as if the ceremony would have to be moved back indoors. But Donna’s intuition prevailed and she was proved right. When 3pm came around the sun was shining and the wedding was able to go ahead as planned under the gazebo in the gardens.
I arrived an hour or so before the ceremony to photograph Donna and the girls getting ready. Darren like most grooms was a bit more camera-shy but I managed to get a few photos of him and the guests before the ceremony got under way.

Once the ceremony was over, and after everyone had relaxed for a while with a glass of bubbly, we did the family group photos in the gardens, and of course some photos of just Donna and Darren.
I do try to get the group photos done as quickly as I can so that everybody can relax and enjoy themselves. It’s really helpful when couples give me a list beforehand of who needs to be in the pictures. I’m happy to do as many group photos as my clients want, but often people underestimate how long it takes to get the different combinations assembled for a picture!
What often works well (as with Darren and Donna’s wedding) is when we do a big group photo with everybody, rather than trying to photograph all the guests individually with the couple. Then we do the bridal party, close family, and one or two other combinations usually.
BBQ wedding breakfast – speeches – then dancing!
The meal was very relaxed and informal with a delicious barbecue and of course the obligatory speeches! Later on the guests enjoyed the photo booth and music ably provided by Keith and the boys from Twilights.
As you’ll see from the photos, the kids had a great time at this wedding running around the gardens with their balloons! I don’t know where they get the energy from, but it certainly helped me to get some good photos!
Here are some of my favourite images from the day…
Many congratulations to Donna and Darren and best wishes for your future together! If you’d like to leave a note for the happy couple, or a comment on the photos, please do so below in the comments section.
