Woodford Green wedding photography | Liz + Nick
It was a run around the top half of the M25 to Woodford Green for me for Liz and Nick’s wedding at All Saint’s Church Woodford Wells – luckily the motorway traffic was behaving itself and I arrived in plenty of time. I always set off early if I’m travelling any distance to a wedding – it only takes one accident to cause a major hold-up, especially on motorways where you can’t easily take a detour.
Liz was getting ready at home nearby so I met her and her daughters and parents there for some pre-wedding photos. Liz’s daughters Tori and Emily were her beautiful bridesmaids, and Nick’s stepson Peter was best man.
Wedding ceremony at All Saint’s Church Woodford Green
I met Nick at the church, where guests were already starting to gather. Nick’s stepson Peter’s children Alex and Theo did a great job handing out copies of the Order of Service as guests arrived. The church, like so many in London, was built in Victorian Gothic style in the late 19th century as populations expanded.
The blessing service was officiated by Rev. Simon Marshall with great dignity and charm – I wish I could remember what the significance of the toilet roll in his sermon was! I was busy taking photos so I’m sorry to confess it went in one ear and out the other (the point of the story, not the toilet roll…).
At the end of the blessing service, a troop of Brownies formed a guard of honour for Liz and Nick at the back of the church.
A windy day
Although the weather was dry and bright, it was also very windy – Liz and Nick’s wedding took place as Storm Brian swept across the UK, so we decided to do all the family group photos inside the church. Otherwise there would have been lots of flyaway hair in the photos and I suspect we’d have been chasing ladies’ hats across the common!
We did venture out to do the confetti throwing pictures, and then later on during the reception I took Nick and Liz outside for some nighttime portraits, by which time the winds had subsided.
Reception at Woodford Memorial Hall
Nick and Liz and their guests then travelled to Woodford Memorial Hall for their reception, where afternoon tea was served – along with champagne for the toasts of course! Dancing to a live band completed the evening.
