Newlands Corner Surrey wedding photoshoot | Careena + Adrian
Adrian contacted me some months ago to set up a portrait shoot for himself and his wife Careena. They live in Hong Kong, and were coming to England this summer to visit Adrian’s parents and other relatives and friends. It took a few emails back and forth to find a date and location that worked for them and for me (as well as the hair and makeup artist!) but we managed it in the end.
Careena and Adrian were married in Hong Kong but wanted to have a wedding photo shoot amid the glories of the English countryside – so that’s what we did!
We decided on a multi-location shoot in the Surrey Hills area – starting at Newlands Corner near Guildford, then at Silent Pool at the bottom of the hill where the A25 sweeps down on its way to Dorking, and finishing up in the very pretty village of Shere.

An obvious concern was the weather (this is an English summer after all!) but we were quite lucky. A swift shower scooted across as we finished our shoot at Newlands and we had to wait 20 minutes or so before it cleared up so we could get our pictures done at Silent Pool.
By the time we got to Shere however the sun was out again!
I like to keep this kind of shoot as simple as I can. I use minimal camera equipment, just my usual small and quiet Fujifilm cameras and lenses and a bit of on-camera flash when needed. No big lights or reflectors, no assistants, no gaffers, grips, gophers, ADs or catering service!
It was a pleasure working with Adrian and Careena who were very relaxed and were willing to go along with my suggestions – I think they had fun doing the shoot – what do you think?
