Islington Town Hall Wedding | Julie and Tom
This wedding was a special pleasure to photograph, as my nephew Tom married the lovely Julie at Islington Town Hall. Family and friends gathered including a good contingent of Julie’s relations from Winnipeg, Canada.
The weather decided to be a bit “British”, but apart from some occasional drizzle it stayed mostly dry, for which we were all thankful!
I started the day with Julie’s preparations around the corner in Cross Street, before heading to the Town Hall for the ceremony itself, where family and friends were waiting. After the wedding, we did a big group photo on the steps inside the Town Hall and a few pictures of Julie and Tom on their own in the long corridor upstairs outside the ceremony room.
Then it was the obligatory confetti shot on the steps outside before a short walk to the Draper’s Arms pub for the reception.
Family group photos in Lonsdale Square Gardens
On the way to the pub we made a short detour to Lonsdale Square Gardens for family group photos. I ask my couples to give me a list of required groups ahead of time so that I can make sure we get them all done – and in the quickest possible time! On this occasion we got all the group photos done inside 20 minutes, which is what I normally aim for.
After some champagne, tea, coffee, and cake, everyone moved upstairs for the wedding breakfast. The Drapers Arms provided a splendid meal, and there were of course speeches and toasts to the happy couple.
Finally, after dark, I took Julie and Tom out into the street for a few more pictures of just the two of them.
Here’s a slideshow with music of some of the day’s photos, and below is a gallery for those who prefer to browse through stills.
