The Park Hyatt in Dubai is a great venue for a wedding – located next to the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club in the heart of the city, but quiet and secluded. My clients, who live in Dubai, chose it as the location for their Christian wedding ceremony and reception, a couple of days after their spectacular African ceremony in the desert.
When I was asked to photograph an African wedding in the Dubai desert, I was (not surprisingly) happy to oblige! I enjoy photographing weddings whatever the location – but I love travelling, and shooting a different style of wedding is always fun!
That definitely applied with this wedding – my clients flew me out to Dubai to photograph their event which was in two parts – first a Nigerian-Ghanaian ceremony which took place out in the desert, followed by a Christian wedding service and reception at the Park Hyatt Hotel at Dubai Creek Marina.
Last week I flew out to the Caribbean island of Saint Martin, to shoot a corporate video for an American company at the five-star resort of La Samanna, on Baie Longue on the French side of the island (St. Martin is shared between the Dutch and French – the northern part being under French jurisdiction while the southern side – known as “Sint Maarten” – is Dutch).
It was a fun assignment, although there wasn’t much time for admiring the scenery, especially as I had to edit the video on the spot ready to show at the company’s gala dinner on the final evening.
However, I did manage to find time on Friday morning to take a few photos of the resort before heading to the airport for the flights back home…
