Asian Wedding Photography Cheshire | Prav & Bobbie’s wedding celebrations
When I was asked by my colleague Ryan Browne to help out with covering Bobbie and Prav’s wedding in Cheshire, I was happy to say “yes”. Asian weddings in general and Sikh or Hindu ceremonies in particular are always such happy and colourful occasions. Also I don’t mind travelling away from my usual “patch” – it’s fun to shoot somewhere new. So I loaded the camera gear into the car and headed up the M40 and M6…

This wedding was a little different in one aspect – its length! There were a lot of ceremonies and events packed into the day’s schedule. At 17 hours I think it’s the longest single day of wedding photography coverage I’ve ever undertaken. We did get some breaks (and some delicious food!) from time to time though. But it wasn’t a hardship at all as there was so much to photograph and everyone was so nice and welcoming.

Preparations at The Cranage

I started my day at The Cranage Hall Hotel in Holmes Chapel where Prav was getting ready. I got some photos with him and some of the guests before we headed back to Prav and Bobbie’s home where the rest of the day’s events were happening.

Prav looked a little nervous at first as he mounted the horse for his grand arrival – but he soon got the hang of it! Both families and guests gave him a huge welcome as he rode up the drive towards the house.

The Hindu ceremony took place under a maandap in the back garden, which was ideal as it provided some much-needed shade on a warm day. Later Ryan and I took some portraits of the happy couple in the garden in their Indian finery.

Marquee reception party and dancing!

Once the important ceremonies were concluded, it was time to party! Prav and Bobbie had arranged for a marquee in the garden to host their wedding breakfast and dancing. After the meal and speeches, everyone poured on to the dance floor for a night of dancing to both Punjabi and Western music.

Here’s my selection of images from the day – I’ve included more than usual, because it was a long wedding and there was so much going on! Click any thumbnail to view full-size.
